We like your site !!! Some may think that your owners have too much time on their hands and that they should spend more time traveling with their friends from Michigan. Hi there Gracie. My name is Crystal Ann and I live in California. My real name is Auchenhove's Crystal and I came from Scotland but that was long ago. I will turn 12 in November but I'm still all the rage with the boys! However, I'm past that business.... I want to tell you that you are just one of the cutest little girls I have ever seen. According to your pedigree we're not related but I happen to be Jill's great-great grandmother. Her daddy is my grandson, Michael, according to my Aunt Judy. She lives in Houston and I miss her sometimes because she kept me until my human mom got me. She was adopted too so we know what that's about. We're totally bonded! Love, love, love. That's what it is! I am the love of her life and she lets me do whatever I please. If you're ever in California, come by and see me. This month's issue of 'Cumbria' (the homeland for Lakeland Terriers) magazine has a piece by Bob Orrell that says Cruft's put the breed on a list of threatened species. My uncle Ken Ferguson in Carlisle was the off-season keeper of the working Lakies for the Blencathra pack, whose fox hounds were the descendants of John Peel's hounds. The terriers were feisty little devils that were not to be crossed without consequence—any animal that is prepared to face a hill bred wild fox in a boulder fall lair needs fearlessness and aggression. I consider it an honor to have been disciplined by a Lakie for overstepping the boundaries of good behavior when a child. Uncle Ken's idea of pedigree was number of kills. Before the breed society was formed in 1928, with Lord Lonsdale as its first president, the dogs were known as Elterwater Terriers, or Patterdale Terriers—Uncle Ken always called his charges by the latter name.

Dear Gracie,you sure are a cutie and I wish you could meet my Lakie her name is Goodspice Lady Beatrix of Hibernia but we call her Bea she was named after Beatrix Potter who I'm sure you know is from the Lake district of England where our breed was born. Bea is 14 1/2 and we hope to have her for years to come we are looking for another Lakie to keep her company in her old age but don't tell her I said she is old because she thinks she is still at least 8, Bea looks just like you so you know is beatiful to. Thank you for the lovely photos of Lakeland terriers. I have a gorgeous girl, Amber, now 11 years old. We have been having trouble with her hair getting in her eyes, and through her hairdresser might need to get a new style for her next hair cut. I think your photos might be helpful to her. A friend who just visited me in Canton mailed me your link. Nice to know there are other Lakeland owners in the Atlanta area. Our Lakeland, Chester McDuff (we just call him McDuff) is a Hollybriar (Toano, VA) dog born in Feb 2001. He's our second Lakeland. Number 1 was Lord McDuff of Burke who we had for 14.5 years. Lived without one for a couple of years, but we couldn't bear it. Let us know if there are ever any dog events you're aware of where "Junior" can meet other Lakelands -- it's so rare to ever see another one. They're the best (and craziest) dogs in the world.
